Aventura Clothing Julia Vest (For Women)

My only beef (and its a small one) is the way the sweater is finished. It's done with a machine stitched overcast -- very decorative, but I'd prefer a cleaner finish.

The colors are cheerful - good with black or brown. The garment is light, in layers warm, and fairly shapeless. In winter as an extra layer it will do well for me - a bit of color peeking out under a dark jacket.

This vest is made in a light open weave style so would possibly be better worn in temperate climate conditions or when something only slightly warmer is required.

The weave is eye-catching, but very loose and flimsy. Good thing about the paucity of yarn... it can ball up pretty small and light in a travel bag. But I don't know if it would survive a washing, and don't leave it in the path of your cat. Also, the cut is somewhat boxy - it drapes off the chest after a fashion, but I would like it better if it would at least rest on my hips instead of standing out like a bell. (I am built like a popsicle stick down there... if you are curvier in the hips you might not have this problem.) (Note : the boxiness I just described is subtle, not so bad as to make it unwearable or anything.) I still think that this vest can be very useful for things like covering up a sweater that is too short or tight or moth-eaten, or livening up your look when the only pants&top not in the hamper are black. Etc. But it's not going to keep you warm or take a lot of rough handling.

I am sensitive to mohair. I thought with only 20% and being worn over a midweight cotton shirt it wouldn't be a problem, but it was. It is a very lightweight, loose weave. Nice variety of colors in it - orange, yellow, brown and grey that made it easy to match with bottoms. The fact that this vest wasn't successful for me had nothing to do with the vest construction, just with me.

I like the colors and it is really versitle. However, you will need a tshirt under this vest. The weave is loose and the material is very itchy.

I took a chance on this vest despite reading the other reviews about fit. I'm glad I did. For me (size small) the fit is perfect. Loose--NOT baggy though--and comfortable. Colors are REALLY pretty. The knit is very lightweight, so will be easy to add this vest under a work jacket to spice things up. I have not washed it yet...I hope it washes well. The yarn has long strands, and I'm hoping it doesn't end up balling, etc. I think with reasonable care it will stay looking nice.

The fabric was nice and warm, and attractive, but the arm holes were terrible! The material bulked under my arms and was not well fitting.
