Purchased 2 for a family of four backpacking trip to the floor of the Grand Canyon. I figured we'd sample one and consume the other on the trip. I was dissappointed to find only a few were cook in the bag. All the food has been consistent with my expectations of camp food (Good when I'm hungry). I got a great deal on the food and will use the rest while car camping.

This was my first proper 'backpacking' trip. Hiked to Havasu Falls and Supai in the Grand Canyon. 10 miles each way, with a 1 mile 2000 foot switchback. All i had with me for food was this Backpacker's Pantry set. Ordered it from Sierra Trading Post (my first ever order from them), and got it 3 days ahead of schedule and perfectly packaged. When I opened it and saw the contents, I was a bit concerned that i'd be eating cardboard but figured I was in this for the calories and sustenance, not for the taste, and it was light enough and cheap enough. So I went for it. Then when I made that first meal (Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Rice), I could not BELIEVE how delicious it actually was. I had my crew eating out of my pot and ditching their own fresh-made burritos. Went through about 7 of the packets and every single one was good. except for the vegetable medley. but that was a user error...put in twice the amount of water accidentally than it called for. In a nutshell...would I do it again? abso-frickin-lutely.

Nice variety pack for backpacking. These are tasty. After of few days of eating backpacking food, you're ready for some real food, but these are great for a 3 day adventure.
