Well, updated review...the pack is better than I thought. Tough, comfortable adjustable blah blah blah. Again, can buy 5 of these for the price of that "premium label" on the competition...you do the math.

If it holds up, I would go up to a 4.5 or 5, but right now, my only complaint is that if you don't fill it up, it is hard to compress down so you end up with a lot of extra pack with nothing in it. Kind of like when you grill chicken and there's a ton of extra skin. You know it's not good for you, but at the same time it's not always worth dealing with.

took it to the red river gourge to try it out. stayed with my body during twisty climbs and stream hopping. Stuffed a lot of gear in it. Rode comfortable on my hips. Sweet deal.

I was looking for a pack that I could take on a short day hike, something to stuff a poncho, some camera gear, food; whatever. It does the trick, but I got it because it said it had a rain cover. On most packs, that means that a rain cover comes from out of a pocket and covers the whole pack. Not so with this one. They just mean it has a waterproof lid...and thats about it. Was dissapointed about that, but not enough to send it back.

Agree with all reviews. Surprised by the quality at this price. Simple top-loading bag with framesheet and really comfortable suspension/hipbelt. Buy one, load with 20+ lb., put it on and go. No worries. If labels don't get you excited, then this is a winner...rides like my buds'$$pack when I close my eyes. It might disintegrate in a few months, but it sure seems to be bombproof. At this price I can buy five and still spend less than the premium priced packs. I'll update my review after a season of use.

The backpack has a superb suspension system, including lifters. The waist (I am 38-40 waist), chest and arm straps adjusted out to easily fit over my winter jacket (sized xl with synthetic insulation) and layers. The pack is a simple top loader, made from tough looking cordura nylon. Top buckles down, and there is two side compression straps. The buckles look high quality, and are YKK brand. The pack is designed to compress bulky items, would handle exterior items on the compression straps (I used them for a set of trekking poles). Excellent day hiker.

This pack was much better than expected at this price. While not a technical pack, it is configured to be flexible enough for many uses.

We bought three of these packs. One each for girlfriend and daughter. Great deal for sale price. Fist pack I tested by loading it up on weight, putting my treadmill (it's winter) on 10% grade (steep trail) and did three uphill miles. Then wore pack around house with 18lbs. weight for four hours just to see how it felt. Surprised with comfort and design, so we got two more. Material seemed sturdy and sufficient for pack design. I like that it's a simple single main compartment.(includes top pocket in lid and two tiny micro gear pockets on hip pads-hydration compatible.) Also like that the stablizing snow board straps will allow for piling on load for multi-use, minimalist overnight, carrying a climbing rope, whatever overload you can imagine and carry.

Durable, well constructed, balanced, and easy to pack! This pack is awesome! While it's not large enough for an extended hike, it's perfect for a 1-2 day hike. I highly recommend it!
