Very light, looks extremely well made. The 'straw' was very fine and closely braided, nicely finished. But a tag inside of the hat said 100% paper! (while the description of the product said straw!)...I did a little investigating and apparently a lot of straw hats are now actually made out of coated paper, which seems a shame. In fact, some of the newly listed hats by this same company now say 'paper straw'. Maybe the product description for this item just hadn't been updated in some time, but I felt somewhat misled. I'm not sure I would have purchased this hat if I had known; that being said, we decided to keep it and see how well it works out...can't really recommend this hat until then.
