    Great whistle with a ear piercing sound. Every outdoors person should have one. The 3 inch length is, in part, attributed to the small compartment incorperated in the whistle. The body of the whistle can be unscrewed to store small items, like a needle & thread or some asprin.

    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    I put the whistle on my key chain and had it hooked to my backpack while hiking (to make noise so I don't startle animals) and half way up the hike, I noticed the whistle was gone. Fell off the keychain. There's[$]I'll never see again. its cheap and apparently breaks away VERY easily.
