    Bought compass for a weeklong backpack on continental divide trip. Like the compass, but as I'm trying for ultra-light, it's way too heavy for the value it brings. Like the construction, etc., for day use, but wouldn't recommend it for long trips where you're concerned with weight.

    This compass is great. The rotating bezel makes for quick easy directions. I do not know hot to use the siting line, magnifying lens, or scale. Although, I did try to burn things with the lens, and it didn't work. So I am pretty sure that's not what it is for. But regardless, it makes a great case! And this compass looks a lit better that cheap plastic see thru ones.

    The sample I received appears to have a bad bearing. When level likely to point in any direction. By playing with it can get it to point approximately North. When closed does not lock pointer. Would not buy brand again.

    This compass did not come with a single piece of paper to describe how to use it. Although intimately familiar with the Silva Ranger-style compasses, I'd never used a lensatic type. Many of its best features are wasted without some sort illustration/instruction. The standard (intuitive) functions are just as well served with a $5.00 basic compass.
