Barbour Waxed Cotton Hat with Bow (For Women)

This is waterproof and has a large brim making it a practical and attractive rain hat. It is well made - the crown rouched and brim and bow lined with weathered tartan. Presses flat for travel packing. The small is child size. I usually need small and the medium fits me well. .

My original review was about 100 times too long. I have since ordered the navy version to compare the "black & tan" trim against the gray trim of the black hat. The difference between navy & black is barely noticeable; the black is a bit shinier. I've worked with the brim quite a bit & found that shaping "down", like a bucket hat, is more flattering to my small features & body size. The trim on the navy is more flattering to my skin color & matches my "black & tan" scarf. So, I've returned the black hat. I disagree about the bow on the side; I wear it in the back. The inner part of the hat has an elastic band which keeps the hat snug to the head w/o worry it will blow off. I am a size 7 hat, have several size 7s, and this runs true to size with all my other hats. The wire in the brim is an asset because it allows you to wear it turned up, like a sailor hat or down, as I've already described. The "ruching" in the main part of the hat allows you to pull it down tightly over your head for a very snug fit. Yeah, it flattens your hair if it's worn for very long, but it stays in place, it's very cute, it's warm in cold weather, and it's gotten many compliments. I still say its only downside is the dark color that limits its wear to autumn & winter. I can't imagine wearing it in the warmer months. For those with winter jackets w/o hoods, this is perfect. [...]. You can't judge it by its appearance coming out of the box. Pull it on to your head & mold the brim the way you like it. If you want a "loose" fit then you should order up a size, but a rain hat is supposed to fit snugly, IMO.

Cut hat,definitely more stylish than typical rain hat. Goes well with a black raincoat. Runs a little small. There is an elasticized inner band that helps it stay snug on the head and has a nice wide brim.

I took a chance and ordered a Medium hoping for the best. I had to return, unfortunately, this really cute and practical hat.

Very cool hat, in that it picks up Barbour's famous plaid lining, and uses that for trimming the bow. And how neat is a Barbour hat with a bow..? I am sorry that the manufacturer has discontinued this style, as I would have bought another one.
