Verified Buyer Reviewed by Forest Gump from Montana on Tuesday, September 30, 2014This jacket is about as light-weight as it can be while still including elements found on full-featured jackets such as pockets, drawstrings, an adjustable hood, and pit zips. I used it on an ultra-light month-long bike/mountaineering tour. I only wished it had a higher volume hood because it was a bit of a stretch to get it over my bike helmet. Still, a very light and versatile jacket. I sometimes have to wear large because medium tends to be tight in the shoulder and chest area but this medium fit perfectly, and I could wear a thin insulating layer underneath.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Forest Gump from Montana on Tuesday, July 29, 2014This is a lightweight jacket (which I was looking for) and seems to be well constructed. The hood is very snug and would not fit over a helmet. For me that's a drawback. Otherwise it's a nice cut, probably slightly longer than average, and it doesn't ride up when you lift your arms so coverage at the waist should always be good.
Reviewed by Pacific north wet nomad from seattle on Friday, May 2, 2014wore a dozen times or so used cuff Velcro & jacket tore from strong Velcro tension or pull. Thankfully STP here allows for easy returns:) wanted to like it though jacket broke with way to much ease to every like...
Reviewed by KevinH from Kerrville TX on Monday, January 6, 2014Nice styling but too snug in shoulders and armpits over fleece jacket. Other shells same size I have fit fine over fleece jackets. At little pricey even at reduced price for such thin material. Fine in a pack as emergency shell but won't hold up under extensive use. No inside pockets.

Feeling too good. I ordered a size small fits well.
Did not look put out the rain does not come.
I think the problem is even function.
Weight is 68 to 175 cm.
Question & Answer
I can't tell from the images where the ends of the hood-adjusting cords are situated. I can see the cordlocks which one pushes to release the hood opening, but I can't see how one tightens the hood back up with the zipper fully closed. The Millet jackets, for instance, have tunnels that hold the cords in position. How does Berghaus accomplish this? Thanks”
If you click image of the hood below you can see where cord comes out of cord hem (tunnels). It has spring tensioner to hold the cord in place.
some questions in the size chart
chest size measure from under arm?
arm length measure from hood or under arm ?
The chest measurement is you body measurement from under the arms. The arm length is from the center of the back at the bottom of the collar. This is a link to our sizing pages it will show where these measurement are from. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/size-chart/
This is a waterproof jacket, but it is not a Gore-Tex jacket. The waterproof fabric it uses is AQ2.5 fabric. AQ2.5™ fabrics allow for extremely lightweight and packable products. The highly advanced microporous polyurethane coating is protected by a unique dry touch micro grid technology. This ensure outstanding breathability enhancing comfort and waterproofing, with the grid of tiny micro beads keeping the back of the fabric raised from the skin eliminating the need for a lining fabric. AQ2.5™ offers a moisture vapour transmission rate (MVTR) of 10,000g/m2/24hrs. AQ2.5™ provides a hydrostatic head of 10,000mm H20 column ensuring the fabrics remain waterproof and the end-user protected.
Unfortunately Berghaus does not provide waterproof ratings for their waterproof garments. Sorry for the inconvenience. Have a good day
The Berghaus Ridgeway Jacket should hold up well to anything the rainforest throws at you. I cant make a 100% guarantee a thorn wont rip the jacket. But it should do just fine. I would recommend getting a bright color, stay away from green.
