    I bought this helmet for my son, age 3, who also just got his first 12" bike. I'd hardly call it serious bike riding, but it does get pretty cold here, and it looks like he'll be riding it all fall. I haven't tried it on with a knit hat on yet. It's difficult to get his comments about the quality or ventilation, but he seems to like it. I mean, he'll wear it without complaining.

    I bought a pair of these helmets for my 4 yr old twins size xs boys. They fit perfect. It has a warm shell inside for insulation that extends a bit below the helmet in back to keep the neck warm and a little in front so no gap between goggles and helmet. I believe it's removable but have not tried yet. great helmet.
