Big Sky Carvers Faux Antler Leather Bookends

I ordered this item twice. The first time, one of the set was broken. I returned it. The replacement also contained two broken bookends. I decided to glue the items back together instead of returning them again. They look fine glued esp. for the price. Something about the fragile antlers and the heavy bookends makes this a difficult item to ship, it appears.

The first set I ordered were broken. It was easy to return them. The second set were also broken. However, I made the decision to glue the broken antler on one piece, and glue the entire antler piece which was snapped off from the leather-ette back on. It looks fine and I'm happy with the item, esp for the price. Something about the fragile antlers, the very heavy bookend pieces, and the way the items are packed, it seems, is causing a problem with breakage.

The bookends are very attractive, however, my teenage son was very disappointed when he unwrapped them as a Christmas gift, removed them from the box, and one of the antlers fell off right in his hand. We were able to glue it back on so that it was not noticeable, but the amount I paid for these bookends was actually a bit more than I had wanted to so it was extremely disappointing to me to have received a product that I felt was overpriced with such poor workmanship.
