I consider myself a bit resilient to foot pain as I have large feet and rarely find shoes that fit well (women's 11-12). I rarely send shoes back as I'm happy just to have something cute or, even more rare, comfy. I am sending these back as there is not enough material in the leather to hold a foot in place, and the leather cuts across the big toe and inner foot at a weird and painful angle-- the leather doesn't lay flat at all. Perhaps they would eventually break in, but I don't want to risk it and be stuck with expensive shoes I don't wear even around the house. Like another reviewer, I tried adjusting the straps to get a better fit, but it didn't work. I'm sad to send these back as they are beautiful like all Birks, but just too uncomfortable for even a foot pain expert like myself.

I usually love birks, but these were not comfortable. The foot bed is the usual birkenstock bottom, and was comfortable, but the top leather straps cut into the top of my foot. I tried making the straps tighter and then looser. But they just were not comfortable. Also when I walked, they would come up and slap my heel, which I know -- that's what flip flops do -- but these were really loud when I walked, much more so that other flip flops I have owned. I also own the como sandals, which are a similar design, but way more comfy. Had to return.
