    I ordered these twice. The first pair was very thick leather and quite uncomfortable. The prognosis for successful break-in was not good, so I sent them back. I loved how cute they were and after looking everywhere for something similar I chose to repurchase, in spite of the problems. The leather in the second pair was a lot thinner and more comfortable, and I am happy with my purchase. Too bad the product is not more consistent.

    I have been wearing the Ibiza sandal for 22 years. My first pair lasted 17 years (having the soles repaired after 9 years) and I finally had to say goodbye to those. I have now been wearing my second pair for 5 years. I used to wear them only as summer sandals, but after developing plantar fasciitis last fall, I now need to wear them constantly around the house. I felt I should get an additional pair as a backup and to save one for indoor use and one for outdoor summer use. The Ibiza has been discontinued, so I was so thankful to find it here online. I think the Madrid is similar, should I need a pair in the future. Yes, the Ibiza does need to be broken in - the leather is stiff at first - but then it becomes a part of you. Wear socks at first, if necessary. It is wonderful. It is not for running or getting wet, but great for just regular walking and standing. Yes, you do need to size down on these. I wear a 35 in Ibiza, but other shoes I own translate to a 36 in European sizes. I wear a size 6 American women's shoe and my feet are not narrow.
