It is my favorite feature on this pack. It is definitely not "super light" but it looks ruggedly built. It's comfortable out of the box but it's June so we'll have to see how it works in the field.

Good designReviewed by Elker from Wyoming on Monday, January 27, 2014The pack was well thought out - the external sleeve for the shovel and probe keeps the most important tools at the most easily accessible location. Inside the main compartment there is a sleeve for a bladder. The hip belt pouches can carry small things like keys and chapstick. I wish there was another smaller compartment within the main compartment so that I could store my lunch down lower rather up at the top of the pack.
