It holds two water bottles, and the water sacs adjust with velcro in case you have an oversize bottle. I only wish that the main zipper compartment was large enough to hold a small field guide, but that might compromise the comfort. Otherwise, there's plenty of room for whatever else you might want for up to a half day hike. I'm pleased with it.

Reviewed by Tabitha from Colorado on Monday, March 04, 2013I wore this for the first time on a 2 hour hike. It carried 2 bottles of water and several other hiking necessities, cell phone etc.! It was very comfortable and I didn't feel I was carrying extra weight until I took it off ! I just wish that at least one of the zip pockets had been bigger - but then i would have carried more and possibly felt the extra weight! Highly recommend.
