The free pivot design of the BD 01 binding is unparalleled for back-country access. This binding makes the upward trek light years easier than a traditional tele binding. They have excellent support and power for any downhill conditions. If you haven't skied this binding, you need to.

I bought these bindings primarily for backcountry skiing and am very impressed. Uphill climbs are now virtually effortless compared to a non-free pivot tele binding and the downhill control is worlds better than my old cable bindings. The only drawback is the weight - my A/T seup with Dynafit bindings is quite a bit lighter. In fact, these bindings weigh about the same as my Fritschi A/T bindings w/o brakes. But they sure do work great!

My second set of these bindings. Very responsive while skiing and so easy to walk uphill with the free pivoting toe piece.

I average about 40 backcountry days a year and have recommended these to friends.

These are well made telemark bindings with a proven tour function. It should be noted that these are BD's 2011 model with 4 hole mount, not the newer 6 hole mount. That said, if you are not skiing burly stiff boots and wide skis these are just fine. A very well engineered tele binding with tight tolerances. Skis nicely! Sierra Trading Post should mention that these are available in small and standard cartridge sizes- it was a crapshoot when I ordered what size would come in the box, I got mid-stiff standard, what I wanted.
