I ordered this to use as a day pack and perhaps as a loner for a friend just getting into backpacking and not able to carry too much. When it came I packed everything she would need to carry on an overnighter and was amazed at how it fit and felt. I liked a short trail to try it out. I then used it on a whirlwind visit of nine states in nine days - and packed everything I needed in it! It has a few pockets that make organization nice rather than the typical open bag of many internals. Best of all, it really does seem to allow an air current down the back; I generally get very overheated with an internal frame or day pack.
It will not replace my regular backpack, but it makes a terrific day pack, carry on through the airports, or small overnighter for the right person.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by SuperbugZ from Minnesota on Monday, October 13, 2014I've used this bag several times now for short day hikes and longer overnights trips. I really like it. It's simple style and accessible pockets works great for my preferences. I don't like a million pockets and this one fits the bill. The water bottle holders on each side are oversized (as compared to most) so it can handle larger bottles or extra equipment easily. I do notice a difference with the 'swing arm' straps and I did not think it was too stiff. The chest strap does have to be cinched for this feature to work though, which doesn't bother m. Fit like a charm, just what I was looking for
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Lauren T. from South Carolina on Monday, June 9, 2014I was looking to get a small "daypack" that didn't scrimp on comfort. This pack fits the bill. the straps and hip belt fit my 5'4" frame perfect. I ordered the medium because my torso was right at the cutoff. The medium size has a bit more storage space.
I used this bag as my carry on when heading west for a national park adventure. I was able to fit my 14 inch chrombook, spare clothes, blanket, medium size pillow, water bottle, long sleeve shirt, wallet, two cell phones, keys and other random stuff. For a "daypack" this seems like too much space. More like a weekend bag. But the material is light enough that during my outdoor adventures on an impromtu cave dive, it held just what I needed and I forgot it was there.

Then I put in my sketchbook, my ipad , my purse etc.
And it all fits. It just looked small when it was right out of the package.
Best thing I can hold the weight on my hips and not on my shoulders with the bottom
Reviewed by MIWildflower from Michigan on Sunday, March 9, 2014I bought this smaller pack for activities that don't require the capacity of my full-sized pack. It's roomy; was able to put stuff clothes for a ten day beach trip in it for use as a carry-on. I'm 5 ft 5 inches, but small boned, and this pack feels comfortable and carries well. Great pack at any price, but love the sale price at Sierra. Very fast service; the items in my order arrived in mint condition and looked as if they were packed by someone who cares.
Reviewed by HIKING MAMAW from USA on Tuesday, May 7, 2013I loved this pack except for one thing. The straps are hard as rocks and way too wide. They touch my neck and rubbed my arms. If the straps were softer and more flexible, this pack would rock. gt
