Bought as replacement to Raven, this is lighter and feels pretty good for fall arrest and assisting in long hikes to the top. Can feel the difference from my Raven after a full day. Love the color!

Used my BD Raven Ultra on my 1st climb of Mt. Whitney. It did it's job as advertised and got me safely to the summit and back. Used to to glissade and worked well in practicing self-arrest. Light weight is ideal as I can use saving every ounce I can!

I bought 3 of these for use in the local mountains during the winter. So far we have used them on 3 day hikes and they have worked out really well to give us that little bit of extra safety margin on the crusty snow. They weigh next to nothing and have been great to have.

It's hard to go wrong with Black Diamond gear; I've always been impressed with their quality. This axe may have gotten 5-stars, but I haven't field tested it enough to say for certain. Solid feeling, light with a nice balance and comfortable to carry. Overall, I'm pleased with it.

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but I got a great price on the Axe [...]. It's extremely light and looks very solid in both construction and durability. Summating Mt Rainier in this June so I will be using it then. Looking forward to it!
