Open the box from Sierra, take one pole and let the sections hang down unconnected. Then grab the top carbon fiber tube and pull of the cushioned hand grip out to extend the pole ... the other two sections self allign and seat thenselves.

Reviewed by Lola from Corte Madera on Monday, April 01, 2013Although these poles have not yet been put to the travel test, I have used them for a five-hour mountain hike--and they passed with five stars! Being able to fit the poles into a carry-on is a time-saver. (I have not checked, as yet, with Airport Security as to whether poles are acceptable, however.)
