Headlamp is simple and bright. It is a little less fancy than some of the others I have bought from STP but it is also less money. It has everything I care about in a lamp without having to pay a lot.

I love my Black diamond head lamp so much that I bought one as a gift for my boy friend. I use it out doors for camping, night running, and hiking. It is so small I can pack it in my pack for all adventures. You never know when you may need it. I use it for shall spaces indoors as well for repairs and even to see better when installing a ceiling fan in my house.

If this headlight is to be used by children around the house or on a day trip then it is great. I like that my younger children can not take out the batteries because there is a screw securing the lid. However, if you are on a multiday hiking trip or camping trip, then it could be a real pain to have to carry a small screw driver (it came with one) just to change out the batteries. Since my younger kids often forget to turn off their light or leave it on while they fall asleep at night changing the batteries is something I am likely to have to do on our outings. If I did get such a great deal from STP and return shipping is not free, I am going to keep it, but I prefer the princeton tec fuel headlamp. It is a little more expensive, but also has a latch that the kids can not open and the adjustment tab on the band serves as the "tool" to pop open the latch.

I bought this as a gift for my kids. As others had said in reviews, it comes with a little screwdriver to change the batteries. This is a bit inconvenient because if you're out camping and the batteries die, you need to have and find the screwdriver (or other tiny phillips head screwdriver) to change batteries. We just got this product, but first impressions are it seems just fine for casual camping, reading in the tent, etc.

Got several for a girls birthday campover. Kids loved them. A bit cumbersome to assemble and the philips screwdriver will be long gone when I need it to change the batteries. However, lifesaver during power outage from the Midatlantic Derecho. So much easier to do things in the dark when you have two hands free and no melting wax to manage.
