Closeout shells. This is the finest Queen down comforter we have ever carried; made in the Black Forest of Germany, which has a rich history of fine textile production. The shell, woven by K&S Fabric (a 200-year-old weaver of the finest down proof fabrics in Germany), is silky and more durable than most cambric shells with a higher thread count. The superior boxed-wall baffle construction uses smaller baffle-boxes with 1" high baffles for the most even distribution of down for loft and warmth control. The edges of the comforter are sewn down and piped for ease of slipping into a duvet cover.

Pros:
Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Insulation
Best Uses:
Winter
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
We just moved to central New York state where the icy wind blows all winter. Even so, we like to keep our thermostat low -- healthier, and energy conscious too. These comforters were our first major purchase for the house -- we bought one for us, one for our teenage son. A big investment in bedding, to be sure. We have used high-end European-made comforters over the years, but found them unbearably dense -- we'd kick off the covers in the middle of the night and freeze. This particular model provides the perfect balance of comfort and delicious warmth when the wind is howling all around the house. We sleep through the night undisturbed, the weight and the warmth are heavenly. Can't say anything yet about the ease of care, but the exterior fabric has a lovely silky cambric hand, and it's tightly woven. No drifting down when you shake out the bedding! Superior workmanship -- should provide years of use. Five times the cost of whatever you could buy at your local "mart" but no comparison in quality.

I am so happy I took a chance on this comforter. This is the most incredible comforter I've ever seen. It lofts extremely well, it is very warm but it is still lightweight. It looks so luxurious on the bed, and I'm now looking forward to cold winter nights! The only downside may be the width - I believe the size of the comforter is 96" long x 88" wide, which is perfect for my platform bed but may not be sufficient for deeper mattress and/or traditional bedframes.
