Boker 540 Bowie Fixed Blade Knife - 440 Stainless Steel

I can't even unsheathe this monster around my wife because it looks so ferocious that it scares her. Bowie knives are the standard of rugged, hard-duty outdoor blades. It has multiple uses in the field, and is of a superior quality that won't let you down. This is a generational quality knife that I plan to pass onto my son. Reviewers who complain about the grip, need to recognize a top-self knife is all about the blade. For this great price go to a bladesmith and get a custom grip if you find your hand is to dainty or that you lack the forearm strength to grip it adequately. ;)

Plenty of steel, the sheath is extremely high quality. Great finish.

Very nice overall, however fit/finish on the tang to scale line is a little off, less than a mm, but just enough to feel it in the palm of your hand. Very good value overall.

This knife is really to large for skinning. It's big and heavier than I like to carry around much. It would probably do best car camping or staying at home.

The wood handle scales need to have checkering or some other grip enhancement to make this knife handle better. As it is, it will be slippery when wet.

this knife was a purchase as a tag-along for hunting bear with bow and arrow. large sturdy blade is for added protection in case of a quick charge.

This knife has a real nice piece of 440 stainless, and a sturdy grip. Craftsmanship is good overall, and the sheath is nice. However, when it arrived, it was so dull I could not cut a wet noodle with it. This had me scratching my head in light of the price. A few minutes with a wet stone sharpened it up, and it holds a keen edge very nicely.
