But, the thought ran through my head if I'd ever use it in the field as it was intended. The cut out in the blade gives you a variety of handholds so you can do some precision work. The handle has finger contours that will only fit a child. Would of been better to keep the handle straight without the grooves. I had to sharpen

With that said, the size is good because it's not bulky, and despite it being small the blade curve gives you a good bit of sweeping action. Quality seems very well made, although it was not sharp enough to skin a deer or hog out of the box. At least mine wasn't.

Reviewed by TX fan from Metroplex TX on Monday, May 28, 2012Needed a skinning knife for deer hunting. This seems to be a solid knife w/good steel and I like the moderate size to keep my pack weight managable. The handle is a nice looking wood but a bit short for long hands.
