Boker Santoku Titanium Chef's Knife

Watch the fingers. This is very useful knife to have around but it is sharp. It isn't a cleaver and it isn't a screwdriver. And you probably don't want to slice bagels with it.

I purchased both Boker titanium knives offered. This is not a single item issue. The knives are no wear near as sharp as previous customer comments lead me to believe. I returned both knives.

The knife is a distinct upgrade in my kitchen. I hope it holds its edge well!

Bought as a present for my son, a fledgling chef. He did not like it. I thought I'd try it and did not like it either, plus, it doesn't stick to my knife magnet. I'm returning it and the other one I bought.

I love my "Herself" dearly, but she destroys knives. I knew this before I married her. When I met her, she used her dishwasher as a "knife rack" constantly rewashing her Chicago Cutlery "knives" (or what was left of them), until the wooden handles went to an Albino Maple look. There were visible small "notches" in the edges. In her mind, if all you have is a knife, you're good to go. Cat food cans, ripping through staples on shipment boxes, string, wire- you name it- that's what the kitchen knives are for. Are you getting where I am going here? I bought her the standard utility version of this knife previously, and it too, resides in the dishwasher (ready at a moment's notice, I am sure). But after 9 years, it is still in great shape, notwithstanding that it did once fall on the heater/dryer element inside the dishwasher and melted the handle halfway through. Looks and works like a thumb-rest for her. (see picture) I got her this one here as half a joke- she didn't need a new one, and also as a "back up" if the other one ever pooped out. (not likely) Besides- this price is quite the bargain, let me assure you. Now we have two Titanium knives in our "Amana Knifeholder'. I have my Wusthof knives, I have my Kyocera Ceramics. And kind of like my Sawzall, she is not allowed to touch those. She merrily goes through the day trying to destroy these Titanium knives- and they just take it! They remain quite sharp, and after many years use on the first one that I bought, it still does not need sharpening. She should have one, maybe two. You decide.

The blade is very sharp and light weight, but the injection-molded handle feels cheap.

Every serious cook needs this knife.

I like the design and the function

This knife is excellent for all sorts of vegetable chopping-slicing which is what it was made for. It has a small handle that has been criticisized in other reviews, but for my family, the moderate handle size is a plus. Use of the knife requires care because it holds such a fine edge. The smaller Boker kitchen knife has also replaced our paring knife.
