“This is basically a stylish shell with a thin fleece lining & a little insulation. You will not be warm in winter unless you layer up, in which case you will feel very bulky. The exterior is not the soft, quiet shell, but the noisier, bulkier shell. However, this is waterproof, and for a jacket, it's a good price, when you consider other waterproof shells with no lining at all.
