Reviewed by Wexcat from Indiana on Wednesday, November 14, 2012I require we'll cushioned insoles.. I have abandoned all brands but Born, Frye, and Bass because they have exceptional insoles. I've been buying Born for years, so have the most of them. I have about 20 pair of them, 3 with heels. I only wear the heels for short periods because of arthritis.. This particular style is THE ankle bootie of the season with every major brand making one nearly identical. This is the heaviest of all my Borns, but the others are flats and sandals, so not a reasonable comparison. The tie is only 2 notches; it is more decorative than necessary. I found the comments about it astonishing. It ties securely over the vamp. This is an ankle boot and should be expected to be heavier than a shoe. I find it comparable in weight to my other ankle boots. It looks stylish and cute with straight pants rolled up to show the bootie. It is more comfortable for me to wear a sock in it which required a half size up. Born tends to run narrow and a bit small in general. I would definitely recommend this boot to friends and I've had many compliments on mine.
Reviewed by Sashamae from Dallas TX on Thursday, October 4, 2012They are slightly heavy for Borns, but I found they stayed tight fine with double knots. And I even ordered a half size up for the sake of my pregnant feet. The very first day I wore them, it was all day 6-8 hours, and my feet felt fine afterwards.
I tried the Carteret as well, but they were a little narrow for my wide foot.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Sashamae from Dallas TX on Wednesday, October 3, 2012I bought these knowing I might have to return them based on the one rating that was available when I bought them. But I love them. True to size. I ordered a half size up so i can wear them with thick short socks if I want to. They fit great, exactly how I expected them to (a little big), and with a double tie, they stay tied up and tight the whole time. The first day I wore them about 6 hours straight, while on my feet the whole time making espresso. And I'm 7 months pregnant. I won't lie, my feet hurt *a little* but even in flats or flip flops my feet would hurt after that day.
I got a ton of complements on them.
I plan to wear them with dresses and colored tights, & with skinny jeans or leggings.
- Pros: Comfortable, Trendy
Verified Buyer Reviewed by stillthe4mos from Pleasant Hill, CA on Wednesday, April 4, 2012I love Born shoes and this is the first pair I have ever returned. They were much heavier and chunky looking than I had realized and they slipped up and down on my heels. They ties were too light-weight too feel adequate for such a heavy shoe/boot. I was really happy with the other pair of Borns I ordered - the carteret.
- Cons: Hard to tie, Loose in the heal, Too Chunky, Too Heavy
