I went back and read all the reviews and I don't think there was much mention of running small---but I liked them well enough to try again, ordered a full size up and these are better. I think part of the problem is they are so sturdy they border on being stiff in the heel and might just be more difficult to get on before they are broken in. Anyway, they are supportive and comfy and appear to be well-made.

I believe the shoe is true to size, but the shape in the does allow the shoe to slip depending on the socks I am wearing. I order a pare for my sister, same size, and she felt the shoes did not fit her quite as it should. We both are adults who have very small feet and normally wear the same size. My foot is a little wider than hers. I like the shoes for casual wear to work or church.
