Overstock. Look to Bota of Boulder for quick, light filtration. This water bottle purification system traps protozoan parasites in a polymer matrix for pure, clean drinking water. Fill the bottle with water, pop in the filter, screw the lid on and drink away.

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The older ones were ideal for quick personal filtration. Beware of the new ones however, they have a new round filter without plastic cover that simply is subpar. Won't let air escape, extremely hard to squeeze water through. If you can get your hands on the old ones though--go for it.

I purchased a couple last year and was 100% satisfied. Purchased a few more lately for gifts for friends and family, BUT was a bit disapointed. The new filter design does not have the plastic cage around it to aid in allowing air pressure back into the bottle. Tip the bottle up and squeeze hard to get a stream of water, but when you release the squeeze pressure, the bottle remains collapsed and does not rebound with air, to allow another squeeze. The air eventually sucks back through the charcoal filter to expand the bottle, but it takes a while. It works, but a pain when you're trying to get a quick drink and move on. If you're not in a hurry or dying of thurst, no big deal I guess. Otherwise, it's great to carry just one bottle and no additional filter/purifier. I use mine almost every day at work in the woods. NOTE: The hose is crimped when you first get the bottle. Just pinch the crimp with your fingertips, or a needle-nose pliers etc. The pinched tube will pop open and no further worries. ANOTHER NOTE: If you don't have a strong hand and forearm grip, this bottle is likely not meant for you. Even the strong will get a workout squeezing a full bottle of water from these things. I guess that's what it takes to get clean water. And don't even think of trying to suck water through the hose with your mouth. I didn't try it, but can't imagine it would work without imploiding your head. LASTLY: Eventually, the filter will clog and is unuseable. It all depends on how clean the stream or lake you collected the water from. Be choosey in water clarity to get the most from your filter. Both mine are going strong after a year. A buddies lasted about 4 years. I would recommend this filter bottle to others, but read the paragraph above again and know what to expect from it. Hope this helped someone. Todd

Great simple system for backpacking. The supplied lid/straw is kinda slow. I do not use the relatively small 22oz supplied squeeze bottle. I actually use the filter with a 32oz Nalgene squeeze bottle. It fits perfectly and it works great.

I thought this would be a great complimentary addition to my other outdoor water purification equipment... but not so fast. The drinking straw gets pinched when pulled out for sipping, and only amazing lung suction will allow water extraction through the straw. Suffice it to say, the straw then collapses.[...]Unless I was only an isolated case with a bad bottle, I would recommend you save your money on this one.
