5.0 out of 5 stars. Love them! Great in the 2010 Blizzard!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Snowed-In Steve from Baltimore, MD on Monday, February 8, 2010
I purchased these for skiiing; however, before I could get on the slopes, we were hit with 26" of snow here in Baltimore!!! So timing was good. I went for a hike in the snow for four hours and these pants kept me very warm and dry. I was wearing Hot Chilis and light sweatpants underneath and may have been able to remove one of those layers. I was not sweating though and didn't feel overheated. Temps were in the mid 20's. I then spent another hour on my knees digging out my car and pants were durable and kept me warm and dry. The other people in their jeans were very jealous.

I wear a 31/32 and I got the Medium. The length is perfect and the waist is just very very slightly too big. There are not much adjustments on the waist, but the velcro on the sides and front can pull it in about an inch. There is also an adjustment on the inseam which can lengthen it 1" or shorten 2". There are instructions on how to do that. It has a nice cuff adjustment and, for my hike, the snap on the bottom of the front of the inner cuff was nice to attach to my boot to make sure it didn't ride up. I like the full zip on the side. There's a zip up and a zip down. The zip down doesn't allow it to come apart...you still have to slip your foot through. The inner cuff does come apart (held with a snap and velcro), so you could probably pull it over ski boots without taking them off (good for racers in GS suits). Velcro seems to be solid quality. The only downside is the one back pocket. It does have a zipper though. I've been in that boat before so I'm used to it and have plenty other pockets elsewhere. For the price, I'm not complaining. These are not super-thin pants, but are not very bulky either.
Now, if only I had cross country skis here since I can't make it to the slopes anytime soon :( Hope this helps!

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great quality for budget ski pants, but loose in waist
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from San Francisco on Tuesday, February 26, 2019
These ski pants were surprisingly good quality for the price. They kept me dry and warm skiing bunny hills with my daughter for three days with temps in the 20s and snow showers (with just a midweight base layer underneath). I am between Medium and Large and got the Large size pants. I had a hard time getting a good fit on the waist with the velcro adjustments and elastic waistband. After a day of skiing, the crotch was sagging down on me. Some belt loops or more adjustment would help with those of us between sizes. I will probably find a pair of suspenders to use with these in the future!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great value, minor inconveniences

I originally bought these to go skiing in, but only have used them for hiking in the snow (and subsequently rolling around in snow like a little kid, because I haven’t gotten to experience much of it since I moved to Texas). They performed quite well.

Positives: These kept me warm in freezing temperatures and deep snow (even when rolling around and laying in it), and never had any water leak through. They provided a great range of motion, more than expected, and did not hinder hiking a mountain in snow on Appalachian Trail.

Negatives: There’s only one pocket, and it’s in back. I didn’t think this would be an issue, but it was an inconvenience while hiking. These have no obvious way to tighten them, there’s no cinch straps or even belt loops (I might try suspenders so I don’t have to keep pulling up).

I’m not an expert on snow pants as growing up and even the few times I’ve gone skiing I just made due and layered, so these were my first purchase. They did surprisingly well, and as the most affordable pair I found, they were definitely of great value. I would look for a pair with tightening features and pockets next time, but if those don’t bother you or you’re budget minded, these are a great purchase.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. They’re bigger now

I had a pair of XLs that fit great and lasted 4 yrs before the side zipper broke. Bought some replacements in the same size and they are puffy pants.

At least I have 2 extra zippers for my old favorites!
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Poor sizing

Apparently the sizing does not apply to the pants you normally wear. Ordered a medium and could barely get them buttoned though I am a 33 waist in pants.

they fit, they're warm. And what I didn't even notice when I bought them is that they have that cool side seam zipper which makes it way easier to take off.
