5.0 out of 5 stars. Over the topVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Missouri on Wednesday, September 2, 2015I have a couple of new pairs of engineer boots and most of the socks I had would tend to drop below the top of the boot causing some calf rub. I tied a pair of knee high wool blends from BPS, but they showed excessive wear at the boot top after the first wear. I thought I would give these a try as the price was hard to pass up. They are great! No wear showing at the boot top so far, they stay up better than the BPS socks and are very comfortable (even in warmer temperatures) I highly recommend these.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great quality and good valueVerified Buyer Reviewed by D. from Southeast USA on Wednesday, May 27, 2015Bridgedale of Ireland outsourced to a South African maker - not "Made in UK" as stated in STP listing. That said, still a nicely made heavy sock and another great value from STP. Although these won't be tried until next winter they are certain to perform well.

1.0 out of 5 stars. Caught in the sewing machineVerified Buyer Reviewed by Chipper from Colorado Springs on Friday, May 6, 2011These things looked cushy except for the 4' x 6' area above the instep where the sewing was completely faulty, creating ridges of material in between near-thread-bare areas. What a joke. These are not seconds ... they're fourths or fifths. I cut off the feet and will use them for arm warmers.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Toasty warm, Buy size larger to shrink.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Emily from Ashland Oregon on Wednesday, April 23, 2008I bought a size larger so I could shrink for a thicker sock. Lost a bit of wool in washer. Socks seem a bit flimsy, so I don't know if they will hold up. Different pairs were different shades and shrank at different rates! I would recommend with the above stipulations. Good for the price.
