Its not uncomfortably big, mainly just longer and loser in the body. Other than that, very comfortable. Havent used the hood yet, so I don't know about that. It will be great as a base layer, maybe just under a light jacket.

I live on a river where it is humid in the summer, and this thing will give you a little extra warmth and protect you from the sun, but doesn't make you feel sticky. The kangaroo pouch is nice. The only thing I didn't like is the little key clip in the pocket because it adds weight, but I cut it out and no one is the wiser. I can't speak to the long term durability after months or wear, but the construction looks solid. I went with the large because I like my hoodies to be loose. I am 6'1, 175 lbs, slim build with long arms.
