They're made of a smooth, sweat-wicking, breathable polyester. These are among my favorite running shirts. They look like nice casual shirts but are also great for workouts. The "cheap-looking" fabric is a technical material designed to be smooth, almost cotton-like, without absorbing sweat. They do run a bit small. I wear an XS in most running tops, but wear a S in these.

I'm a normal wms size small - sizing was fine except for a weirdly tight neck. What an ugly shirt - even at this price I will return.
