Browning XPO Big Game Pre-Vent Parka - Waterproof, Insulated (For Men)

The ammo storage pockets are cool. I don't know how much I will use them, but I like the option. I also like the internal ring inside the pockets to secure things. This is a really good, usable jacket for a very good price. My hunting buddy saw mine and decided to get one for himself, so that tells you a lot.

Great Parka! warm without bulk and good amount of pockets. A little noisy as new, but softened after washing. Good complement to XPO bibs for cold weather hunts.

I bought this parka because of its stellar reviews. It fit nicely with enough room to include a generous layering but it was good to 25 degrees with just a thick shirt. The pockets are nicely located and the jacket material is relatively quiet. I'm not a bow hunter, but I suspect they would want even less rustle than this. I really liked the ammo pockets that would hold shotgun or rifle ammo. It is a shame they were too noisy to use. This was the 3rd Browning jacket I had to return. I was very disappointed to part with it, but I use it for hunting deer and the Velcro on the cargo pockets renders them useless if you want to remain quiet. They had at least 12 sq in of Velcro on each pocket and it took 2 or 3 good loud ripping pulls to open them. PETA must have influenced the design. There is no way any furry animals would be harmed after alerting them with this noisy attachment. I tried tucking the cargo pocket flaps in the pocket, but the Velcro grabbed the Velcro on my sleeve every time it got near. If you want a neat looking jacket that is warm and functional and looks like you are an outdoorsman, get it. If you really take it to the woods to hunt, pass on it & get something designed for that purpose. That, or don't put anything in the cargo pockets, but then....why have them?

It seems a little light on insulation. It is a good medium weight coat. It fits well and feels good. I like the velcrow flaps on the pockets. They would be noisey for hunting, but they are secure. I got the coat for an all around outdoor use. I think it will work well for temps from the mid 20's to the 40's. I'm not sure what I think of the waterproofing. It's not Goretex.

Can't wait to try it in the field on ducks. Haven't tested for water Resistance yet. I don't have a problem with the Velcro pockets and the shell holders are a good design feature I won't use it for bush bashing but the fabric looks quite tough.Time will tell.
