Reviewed by Bo from PA on Tuesday, April 26, 2011I've had this solar charger for a couple of weeks now and it does charge. But it does so very slowly. It might be ideal for a place with lots of sun. But here in PA it's not as useful. I was able to charge my wife's iPod over a day. But I was not able to charge a separate battery to charge my iPhone (through the auto charger connection). So, if your plan (like mine) is to charge other batteries so that they can charge your iphone/ipod, then this probably isn't the best tool. But, if you just want something to slowly charge your phone, etc, then this will probably work. I have ordered the Brunton big battery thing. And I'm hoping that this might be the combination I was looking for. I just let the big battery charge over days through the solar charger. Then I use the charger every couple of days to charge. We'll see.

Reviewed by rob the climber from catskill mountains on Saturday, March 05, 2011I use this type product for extensive backcountry trips where there is no access to electricity. perfect for mountaineering. this is a great unit by a good company. normally a little pricey, but at sierra's price, you can't go wrong. simple,light, and easy to use, you can charge almost any portable electric devise. my only reservation is that the thin film photovoltaics often contain toxic materials, and should be disposed of properly. hard to complain otherwise.

I hang it in a window or set in in the sunlight and it makes electricity to charge my iPod Touch, my Energizer portable energy storage unit, my camera and my Motorola Droid (through the cigarette lighter adapter and a USB plug). Doesn't work as fast through the window and it has to be in a waterproof map case when outdoors to be really secure but it still works. It just sits there and makes electricity like magic!
