This is a trickle-charge product. The nature of solar products is that the amperage of their charging fluctuates, which means that one should be careful when plugging in sensitive electronics. The best way to use this is to get an external battery pack and have the solar panel charge that. When the external battery is fully charged, you use that to charge your other electronics. The external batteries are light, small and pretty inexpensive (found on a variety of retailers). I do this when I go camping and leave the charger in the sun to charge my battery all day, which can then charge my GPS, phone, mp3 player, etc at night.

This product will not provide enough current to charge many USB compatible devices even in full sunlight. Review the charging requirements for your devices before ordering this. Many smartphones, tablets, readers etc. require more current to charge than this can deliver at full output. It also does not apparently have a blocking diode to prevent it from draining a device connected to it of power. It does work but I was not able to charge my smartphones or tablets with it. It is best suited for a battery pack that has charge management circuitry that will prevent reverse current when connected to the panels.

my camcorder fried when I plugged it into the solar charger. I will say though.. after searching that camcorder, I found that fried batteries are not uncommon. Was it the solar panel, or not?

I opened this panel, as soon as I received it, to see if it would work. My Kodak pocket camcorder was handy, and was low on charge, so I opted to test the solar panel on the camcorder. The battery actually discharged, and then quit all together. Now I am out a Camcorder.
