Buck Knives Alpha Dorado Giraffe Bone Pocket Knife - Lockback

Finely finished workmanship with attention to detail makes the Buck Alpha Dorado a truly beautiful folder. It's of collector and presentation quality but for the one small light area on the giraffe bone scale on the back side. The frame lock was stiff to release. However, I found that by putting slight reverse pressure on the open blade as if to begin to close it, it caused the frame lock to immediately release every time, consistently. This beautiful folder is of far too fine a quality to take camping or into the backcountry. I have many other utility and tactical knives well suited to wilderness camping and survival. I've been a knife collector for 45 years and I own a great many knives. I'm polishing this one and showing it off to my friends and family. It's become a family heirloom I'll be passing on to my child.

I just purchased 3 of these knives, and I did not find the problems described by other reviewers. Yes, the knife handles have some imperfections, but they're Giraffe Bone, so naturally they would. Excellent quality and a nice addition to my collection.

Fit of bone handles not perfect (slightly uneven gapping). Locking mechanism binds. I needed to insert a quarter and twist to release lock.

The fit and feel of this knife is absolutely amazing. Every time I look at the knife, I am amzed at how well the knife and scabbard was designed. I have no trouble with the mechanism. The mirror finish on the blade is great. There is a small blemish in the giraffe bone which is likely why it was sold through ST.

The knife is nice looking, but after you flick the blade open, the locking mechanism gets stuck and you have to really work at getting it to release again. ---Returned---
