5.0 out of 5 stars. gut knife set

i bought this set and used the caper to gut a deer. it was the best and fastest feilding dressing i've done. liked it so much i came home and ordered another one. i had a previous hand injury at work, and holding on to knives isn't the easiest for me especially in the cold. no problems holding on the these ones. another quality buck product at great stp prices.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent

For an end-of-semester party I gave one of my goats to the Nigerian graduate assistants in my department and let them choose from a pile of high quality knives. This is the one they said worked the best. Had a second party and they didn't even bother with the other knives.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Usual Buck good value, but mediocre finish and small handle

Buck makes some amazingly good knives for the money, and this is a great deal if you don't care about the surface finish, you know how to sharpen a knife properly, and you don't have large hands. I already own a Paklite Caper, and find it to be a great, sharp, good-handling knife for smaller tasks. Unfortunately, the Omni has a small handle- I simply can't get a good grip on the knife with my large hands. For a knife that otherwise appears capable of heavy-duty work, that's unfortunate. The knives need sharpening right out of the box, too- the edge is pretty rough. The sheath is functional and not unnecessarily bulky. This would be a great first knife kit for a kid.

overall good work product, do not expect a show item. this is a work tool. I'm happy with it, wish it was a more concealed under my work uniform. purchased on sale, would not pay regular price for this item.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great knife set!

Omni hunter is a solid knife, handle provides great grip, comfortable in the hand. Blade is sharp, can make easy work out of most tasks. The PakLite is a nice, thinner, sharp blade for more delicate work. Also a solid knife. Both fit nicely into provided sheath.

About Buck Knives

For more than 60 years, genuine Buck Knives have offered consistent reliability and durability to outdoorsmen and hunters. When he was a blacksmith's apprentice in turn-of-the-century Kansas, Hoyt Buck learned how to temper steel for a better edge. Using these forging methods, he created his first customized Buck Knife in 1902. Forty-three years later, Hoyt set up a full-scale operation in San Diego, CA with his son, Al. Starting with Buck Knives' legendary Model 110 Folding Hunter, the brand has continued to grow and now offers a diverse selection of models, from trusty lockbacks and folding pocket knives for camping to fixed-blade hunting knives and survival knives for the backcountry.
