I like this multi-tool. I mostly want a blade handy but having the pliers and screwdrivers available is great. My experience with other tools has been that the knife function takes a back seat to all the other functions and this Buck X-tract gives me the primary function as a knife, with extras. In just a week or so carrying this I have put the pliers to good use a couple of times. I also like the way the blade and pliers and screwdriver tips and opener all lock in place and I have always been partial to a liner-lock design for the main blade. I guess I came late to the party since Buck has moved on to other designs in their Multi-tool line so I am ordering another to allow for the possibility (fairly high probability actually) that I will end up losing the one I carry and I like this well enough to want a spare. Oh, nice belt sheath, too.

A tool with the basics. Well made, easy to open (and close). Nice 'hand' to it.
Not a mechanics set, but the camper can make good use of it.
    Bead blasted finish.

    Great price.

This is a very cheap made tool. The pliers feels like plastic. Every part on this knife is rough, not detailed. I don't think this knife can be use practically, maybe just pick up the pot lip when camping.

This thing is a breeze to use! Everything can easily be opened one handed especially the long sturdy blade.

About Buck Knives

For more than 60 years, genuine Buck Knives have offered consistent reliability and durability to outdoorsmen and hunters. When he was a blacksmith's apprentice in turn-of-the-century Kansas, Hoyt Buck learned how to temper steel for a better edge. Using these forging methods, he created his first customized Buck Knife in 1902. Forty-three years later, Hoyt set up a full-scale operation in San Diego, CA with his son, Al. Starting with Buck Knives' legendary Model 110 Folding Hunter, the brand has continued to grow and now offers a diverse selection of models, from trusty lockbacks and folding pocket knives for camping to fixed-blade hunting knives and survival knives for the backcountry.
