I bought this as a gift for my husband and son for our upcoming trip to Africa. I got to use a military grade night-vis monocular in the Everglades and wanted them to have some of that experience without having to take out a loan to buy one. This fit that bill. I didn't have huge expectations and, shall we say, wasn't disappointed. It functions--or should I say, the second one did (the first was a dud, and I sent it back)--well enough to get the experience. It is not a precise instrument, but I'm sure we'll have fun with it.
