Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional
Cons:
Small surface area
Best Uses:
Fresh Water, Traveling
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
They're cheap, and they do the job. But they aren't very large and so you end up having to kick pretty hard to get moving against the wind. I wouldn't buy them twice just because I use my float tube alot, but if you're going to use them on sheltered lakes or in good conditions, they're probably not a bad choice. I've used them alot, and caught alot of fish with them. I'd just like the option to go faster against the wind. And I'm not talking a big wind either. Construction is good, durability is great, nothings broken after most of a season of consistant use, also easy to use.

I use these in the lakes around hood river, which is a windsurfing mecca. We get lots of wind on the lakes and they work fine. They are short, so if you are overweight or lazy, these might not be for you.

The fins are not adequate to hold your position in a pontoon boat in fair winds. As noted in other reviews the angle of the fins is poorly designed and alot of propulsion power is lost due to the poor fit of the straps.

Design is inefficient, Fins too small for effect, Straps are useless

I'll keep these fins because they are decent for the price, but first, the straps/buckles are TOTALLY useless if you have big feet at all (size 12 here). I threw the straps out and made my own...which cost about[$] from a fabric/craft store. Second, the design is VERY inefficient when you consider how you sit in a float tube. The vane of the fin should angle DOWN a bit so your thrust is pushing you to the rear instead of the way they currently work. They vane of the fin could also be about two inches longer so you can get more power from your kick. It is a no-brainer that float tube fin design should be quite different from scuba fins, but they do move you along...very slowly and inefficiently. At the sale price, they are tolerable, but come on folks...put a little thought into the design!
