This is the quality one would expect of a Calphalon Unison utensil. It is a nice looking, good functioning pan. Put a little butter in the cup and your finished eggs slide right out of the cup. It is easy to clean and durable.

We use this pan mostly as an egg poacher, although with its sloped sides it would easily do as an omelette pan. The stainless steel insert with the egg cups is easily removeable and can be removed as one with the center grip using an oven glove. You then can set the top carefully down on a counter so the eggs don't cook any more. I prefer sliding the pan off the burner & removing the cups individually. The cup handles have a slot the a fork will slide into and you can lift them out that way without getting burnt by the steam coming through the vents. We always put a bit of butter in the bottom of the cup before cracking the eggs into it, so the eggs slide out easily. The pan and inserts are easily cleaned. I only put the stainless steel part in the dish washer occassionally. I never wash any of my other Calphaon pans in the dishwasher. In addition to buying one for myself, I have given one to each of my daughters and they love them.

The lower container is deep enough to fold over a large omelette successfully. I liked it so well I have already bought another to give to a close friend for her birthday. She has lots of company and prepares many elegant breakfasts. This should end her quest for the perfect breakfast pan also!

About Calphalon

Founded in 1963 in Perrysburg, Ohio, Calphalon began when Ron Kasperzak decided to create a better line of aluminum cookware products. Within five years, Ron’s company began using hard anodizing technology originally created for the aerospace industry, and by 1976 Calphalon professional hard anodized cookware officially entered the retail market. Calphalon non-stick cookwear debuted in 1992, and the company has continued to innovate newer and better products for the home gourmet ever since. If you demand professional-quality cookware at a consumer price point, Calphalon pots and Calphalon pans will not disappoint.
