I purchased three of the Camelback Auroras for a family trip to Moab, Ut. We planned to do a lot of hiking and biking and needed hydration packs. Our daughters (15 & 13) and I all used the Aurora and my husband got a larger one. We had room for a sandwich, snack and a small pouch of gear ... medicines, tissues, phone, camera ... and the side pockets can both carry a bottle of Gatorade.
I found the Aurora to be the most comfortable of all the smaller packs. We went to a store well stocked with different brands and models and tried on a bunch of them though. I think that's what it really comes down to though ... you have to try them on. Even this year's Aurora model was less comfortable than this version. Oddly, we all found it to be the most comfortable and we range is size quite a bit. The youngest is 5'1-100lbs, oldest 5'5- 145, and I am 5'7"-165.
Great pack and very nice to have hands free access to water on hikes where you need to do some rock scrambling.

Perfect hydration system for hiking and biking. Gave 4 stars as this unit does not have a waist strap.

Holds the water I need and my essentials, wallet, phone, keys, snack. Perfect for 6-8 miles on the trail, especially on hot summer day when you don't want heavy bulk on your back and have no need to carry extra clothing!

Its a camelbak! Just the right size and a couple pockets for misc items. Nice and light. It will be perfect for Colorado hiking this summer. I know this says for the biker in mind, but it is perfect for the woman hiker.

About CamelBak

The story behind CamelBak hydration packs started back in 1988 when a guy named Michael Eidson was preparing for the “Hotter’N Hell 100,” a 100-mile summer cycling race in Wichita Falls. Before the event, Michael (an EMT by trade) filled an IV bag with water and stashed it in the back of his jersey. With the tube slung over his shoulder and a clothespin to pinch it closed in between drinks, Michael had unknowingly created the prototype for what would become the CamelBak hydration system. Fast forward more than 25 years, and CamelBak is now the world’s leading hydration pack company, with more than 80 different products, including reservoirs, backpacks, hip packs, CamelBak water bottles, travel mugs and more.
