I am used to using hydration packs for hikes, and I recently purchased a kid carrier that was designed for a reservoir, but didn't come with one, and after purchasing this same product (in a smaller size for another pack of mine), I knew this would be what I was looking for. The quality of the prod... Read More

I love this bladder! The best!

I hate the new "up grade" that camelbak made to the New 3Ls reservoirs. I've had two of the new ones and the "quick" link that they installed at the base of the bladder leaks after just a few trips.

On the new bladders, the screw top seams to be easier to close, the lid on these omegas, can leak, if it is cross threaded or it leaks if it's not on tight enough. That one improvement seems to be a great addition to the new 3L bladders.... but that is the only improvement I liked and did work for me.

My original omega came in my 1st generation blowfish. It's over 15 years old with 300+ miles a year, use on it. After so many miles, washes, the lid was not sealing correctly and began to leak at the threads. After 15 years, I'm not complaining. So, I bought a "new and improved" 3L one from a local out door store. At first I liked the new bladder, until my first trip with it and the hose was not fully installed into the bottom connector. I tugged on my line when I couldn't suck any water through the bite piece (thinking it had a kink in it) but noooooo, it came right out of my pack.

We were on a tight time schedule to get to the head of the head of Hades Knoll Canyon. It's a long way, no shade, and time was short. It was completely inconvenient having to pull everything out of my pack fix the bladder and re-pack everything. It cost us some of our limited time. The next trip with the new 3L went smoothly, but the third trip it started leaking at the base connection. We actually had to cancel the backpacking trip because I couldn't get it to stop leaking. Nor did I have a back-up bladder.

So we had to change our backpacking trip, to just day hiking. I exchanged the leaking bladder for a new one. But after two trips the same thing happened, the o-ring at the base connector started leaking again.....

When I got home from that trip I looked up the Omega, you have NO Idea how happy I was to find the old style Omega On Sierra Trading Post.
I ended up buying 3! lol!

Love, Love this bladder, It has never let me down! My new Omega just went to the San Juan's in CO for a 40 mile 3 day, backpacking trip and worked like a dream!

Used this to replace a non-CamelBak reservoir that could not stop from leaking due to a screw top that would not seal. Impressed with the quality of this reservoir and the fact that CamelBak stands behind their product with a great warranty. Should have bought this to start with!

I hiked with two of these in my Shimano pack. Kept my wife and I hydrated for the 4-6 hour Arizona summer red rock hikes. 102+ temperatures. Zero spills, no funny tastes. Excellent product.

Tons of room, easy to empty the water bladder - much easier than other water packs I've used. If you're used to a Nalgene the drink spout is a little smaller and takes awhile to get used to in your mouth. The air space on your back is awesome - no more super sweaty back from not having enough air circulation. Straps are comfortable.

    • Answer No, it does not have a Quick Link. You can get a Quick Link Conversion Kit online for about $8, and $10 at an outdoor retailer.

  • Question “Will this fit other brand backpacks? I have an old Hydrapak (Ammo)
Asked on 9/8/2014 5:19:09 AM by MSM from New York
    • Answer I'm not familiar with the Hydrapak sizing wise, but I can tell you that just this weekend I pulled it out of my 40L pack and put it in a regular sized backpack and it worked like a charm.

    • Answer These bladders are 100 oz. If your previous bladder was 100 oz you should have no problem.

    • Answer The size of this reservoir is approximately 18" tall by 8" wide. Being flexible, the bag can adjusted to fit many other packs. The tube is over 38" long which helps to fit different pack sizes.

    • Answer Yes, it fits in my old Camelback (larger daypack) and my other old (smaller, and I don't remember the brand) hydration pack. It is a tight fit in the smaller pack but works just fine as long as you don't kink the hose. I am not familiar with hydrapak (Ammo). You might want to put the reservoir in the pack before filling it with water.

    • Answer Take measurements then compare the measurements with this replacement reservoir... I have the Mule CamelBak which is an older model and this replacement did not fit, I did not take measurements just assumed because it was CamelBak it would fit!

if the price is right, you might be happy with this replacement and just make it work? This replacement is a top quality hydration reservoir!

    • Answer The CamelBak Omega Reservoir will fit hydration back packs that are designed to fit long, narrow bladders that hold 100 ounces. There are some some that are designed to hold 32 ounce and 70 ounce bladders that are shorter so you will need to make sure there is enough room for the 17.5 inc x 7 inch dimension.
