Canari Microlyte Shell Jacket - Windproof (For Men)

I bought this as a layering piece to provide a 2nd wind-proofing layer under my Burton snowboarding shell. I am wearing it over my Pearl Izumi Razor Jersey and the bib on my Burton bib pants and under 200 and 300 thickness Polartech fleece pullovers worn on very cold days. It's really hard to believe how much warmth this 6oz shell adds to the system. It kept me dry in a pouring rain tonight, so it is water repellent.

I didn't want the pockets and zip-off sleeves and sure didn't need another drawstring system to get tangled up with the other three, so I appreciate that this shell has a long tail, elastic waist and wrist closures, and is so tight I cannot blow air through it holding it against my mouth. It also has a soft hand, not the stiff, crinkly, cheap feel nylon does. A touch of fleece on the collar might have been nice - there is only a 2nd layer of the same material. (no brushed face) Canari has other, more elaborate shells if that's what you need, but if you want a simple, very light layering piece, this is about as good as it gets.
