Bought these gloves for 40 degree rainy day rides based on the Sierra Woman catalog description that they were waterproof glove inserts--they are neither. These are loose fitting shells that would fit over warm liners or over thin insulated gloves to provide an extra layer of wind resistance and some limited water resistance. In a shower test, water quickly leaked through the seams and soaked my fingers--not good for cold, rainy days on the bike.

Good for cool, wet weather rides. My 8 year old son is impressed with the looks.

I have replaced all my other gloves with these. Great item. They don't have the padding but I can trade that for the fact that I can feel my fingers when I get to work.

  • Question “OK, I hate to belabor this point yet again. Your other gloves have both the "knukle" circumference measure (which I assume is with fingers spread out as far as possible) and generic sizes (S, M, L, XL). This set of gloves is sized merely generically, though.||A table or list with correspondences between the two standards (for Men as well as for Women) would be a great help! Another thing is that fabricators vary: It may still prove "hit or miss," nonetheless, and we always appreciate great tips from customers as to buying smaller or larger than indicated. ||Becoming clear ("crystal") on this, especially with fabricators, likely would lessen returns, aggravation, and fabricator costs. Usually, I purchase medium gloves. Nonetheless, given a useful customer tip here, I'll try, first, going one size up with this--thanks!”

  • Question “The STP size charts have separate listings for Men's and Women's glove sizes, but these gloves are described as "For Men and Women". Which size chart corresponds? (ex: 7.5" = Women's L or Men's S per the chart. So what size in THIS product?)”
Asked on 1/4/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer To measure your hand size correctly, measure the widest part of your hand (excluding your thumb), generally around the knuckles. The sizes are listed in inches.

    • Answer The gloves are sized in Men's sizes. I consistently wear an XL in gloves of all types, and these are true to Men's XL sizing.

    • Answer I have very large hands for a woman, and my husband is a big man. We are both wearing large and they are plenty roomy. I would get a medium depending on how young he is.

    • Answer These run REALLY small. I am normally snug in a medium and swimming in a large. The LARGE size are VERY snug and short fingered on me. Choose at least a size larger than he would normally use and if they are a bit large, suggest using them with thin glove liners, which would make these an awesome pair of gloves anyway. I should have gone with extra large for my "average" adult male hands.

    • Answer I thought the sizing was accurate, measure the circumference of your hand like they tell you.|If you're trying to surprise him with a gift, I personally would rather ask him for his hand measurement and therefore give a little hint of a gift, than instead getting the wrong size and have to return them. |These are great gloves!
