Also, the amount of padding is a little lighter, which also helps. These are my favorite shorts for my winter indoor classes and for long rides. When my wife found out that they were closeouts, she bought four of them because we have not found any other shorts with a lining that softens the edges of the pad like this.

The value here is second to none. You will enjoy the comfort of the padding and how cool they keep you during those challenging up hills.
