Comfortable fit, not too snug (I dont feel like I'm biking in a rubberband). I'm 5'4" 160lb apple shaped athletic build. I'm young and conscious of my presentation at the gym, and I think these shorts are cute. However, this is my first pair so I have nothing to compare them to. I'm happy with this purchase, 5stars happy.

Answer The padding is approximately half an inch thick and is versatile for beginner tri.

Answer The padding is not bulky but the gel could be a bit more heavy for swimming in. I just wore them in a tri but pulled them on over my swimsuit after I got out of the water.
