I am 33-34 and got the medium. It is longer in length as some have noticed but being over 6 feet this does not bother me. Zipper will hopefully loosen up with use but for now gets stuck where the seem of pocket pouches goes across top of belly (almost feels like there is a tent pole inside and pops up and out). This part of sweatshirt actually is so stiff that it gets caught under the table when I try to get up. Figure it will soften with use and washes. Can not comment on rain defense but there is a prominent logo on sleeve advertising it which I could do without. Not bad for a Mexico make and price but as with all things time will tell....

However the shirt came down about 1/3 of the way down my thigh. I did not order a "big and tall" option, although that was clearly what I got. I really wish it would have been a normal length.
