I have several pairs of this style of shorts in a couple of different colors. Was waiting for these colors to be on sale and ordered them immediately. They fit well, have many pockets, which work well for wallet, cell phone and anything else I need to carry. Definitely recommend them.

I had to buy several sizes and I still came up with the same design problem, whenever you sit down in these, the front pockets seem to be an afterthought and the depth is so much like a slightly larger coin pocket, that just about anything that can roll out will roll out and get lost, especially if you happen to be on some form of public transportation or just sitting in a waiting room.

This necessitates placing "valuables" in one of the deeper cargo pockets and unless you bought several sizes larger for the waist, get ready to have whatever you store in there rub furiously against your thigh because there is very little room to move in these.

If you appreciate the features of the nylon inserts, there are other brands like Riggs workwear that have most of the features but have deep adequate front pockets and do not necessarily have the same tightness issues, although unless you buy the denim version of the shorts, the material in the Riggs is a little bit stiff, so in that sense, you'll be fighting against the resistance of the fabric to walk without constant ease of movement "fatigue" but the front pockets are more than adequate to prevent losing your keys or other valuables like thumb drives, etc.

Husband was sweltering in his carhartt pants, If these shorts hold up as long as they look like they can, they are perfect, and awesome. So many pockets, the washer is not safe now!

  • Question “Why is there never a size 31" waist?”
Asked on 7/1/2015 6:52:34 PM by TwoSizesTooSkinny from Buffalo NY
    • Answer In some lines, Carhartt makes 31, 33 and 35 inch waists. In general, the 100% cottons run a bit smaller than the poly cotton blends.

    • Answer I would suggest a size 32. These are cargo pants and look best with a loose fit. My son got a pair to wear to work as a greenskeeper at a golf course and he LOVES these shorts. They are rugged with lots of pockets for tools and gear. I tried to order a pair for myself and they didn't have my size.

    • Answer Suggest you buy a size 32 and use a belt, these shorts run quite slim, I could have purchased a size larger to have "work room". Still a good deal.

    • Answer I really don't know. My husband is 5'11 - 150lbs, and the 32's fit him in the shorts. The ripstop isn't a light fabric, but very durable.

    • Answer I really don't know. you would have to ask the manufacturer. Perhaps, real men don't have that small of waist! ;)
