My experience has been that Carhartt jeans run a bit tight in the waist, so I ordered a 36 rather than my usual 34 or 35. Alas, the nominal 36's were at least 38 inches in actual circumference. Too bad, because the quality and cut appeared to be good. Also in my order was an alleged 36 waist cargo pant that was even bigger -- more like a 40. As with most Carhartt pants, the 36 inseams were equivalent to a 37 or 38 in most other brands.
