What a great idea--plenty of toe room! And this shoe has it. Also, nice plain brown leather uppers, and enough tread for outdoor work.

Unfortunately, it has a heel so wide that it doesn't grip the foot to keep it from sliding forward into that spacious toe area. (I have a "standard" heel; i.e., it's not narrow.) On top of that, the shoe is a good whole size larger than the stated size. In fact, they're so large that I can take the shoes off and put them on with the laces tightly drawn up.

This shoe works great for heavy gardening work -- I can jump on a shovel, not worry about stepping on rake tines, etc. I have a very high instep which makes the tongue on most athletic shoes compromise ankle movement, but these worked great. I was concerned the tread would hold dirt, but that was not a problem -- have not worn them in heavy wet clay though. Wore them for 6 hours on a very hot day and they were comfortable. They are loose in the heel and will have to get some heel grips, but that is not unusual for me. Only reason I gave them only 4 stars is they are not particularly attractive when worn with shorts.
